No, insurance does not cover the costs of 3D/4D ultrasounds. Since this is an elective procedure and is not intended to replace your doctor-ordered ultrasound, you will need to pay the cost of this ultrasound as an out-of-pocket expense. We accept cash, Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover Card, and debit cards.
Start out by drinking at least 90 ounces of water every day for a week prior to your scan. This helps improve the amniotic fluid levels which gives you a clearer picture of baby! You can also optimize the scan by eating a snack or drinking juice 15-20 minutes before the scan. Juice, coffee and anything with caffeine or sugar is good so the baby is awake.
ABSOLUTELY NOT! Women seeking an elective prenatal ultrasound with Wiggles & Giggles 3D LLC must already be receiving prenatal care with a healthcare provider. We include a very limited diagnostic scan to confirm the gender, number of babies, baby’s presentation, and heart rate measure. Please note, at no time is this exam to be used in place of a complete diagnostic ultrasound. We will notify your doctor if we have any concerns during your exam, but the 3D ultrasound is a NON-DIAGNOSTIC NON-MEDICAL exam
Yes, appointments are necessary for all of our services.
Depending on the package you choose, the session will last between 15 and 30 minutes. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes early to get checked in.
Over the past 30 years, extensive studies have found that ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine ultrasound scanning of all pregnancies is now normal throughout the United States. 3D/4D scanning is exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasound that is used as with conventional 2D scanning. There has been no conclusive evidence for harmful effects of 3D ultrasounds on a developing fetus, as well as the expectant mother.
No. There is a potential risk of harm to a developing embryo from the increased heat associated with Doppler ultrasound in the first trimester (the sound of the heartbeat). Being a registered OB/GYN sonographer for over 16 years, I have been trained in the correct techniques of the OB ultrasound. I will gladly show you the beating heart and tell you what it measures, but unfortunately will not let you hear it until 14 weeks.
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage our clients to invite family and friends to attend the elective 3D/4D ultrasound session. This is a joyous and wonderful experience that can be shared with your family and loved ones.
In most cases you will. Sometimes if the baby’s position is face down, i.e., towards your spine, it may be difficult to see the baby’s face. In this case, a complimentary re-scan will be scheduled. However, the scan images may not be similar to those you saw elsewhere or even from our center. Every baby scans differently, depending on the gestational age, position, amount of fluid, placental location and mother’s body size. However, we promise to make every effort to obtain the best images. *Re-scan is at the discretion of the tech.
2D ultrasound is the typical black and white flat images you receive at your doctors appointment. We will always start in 2D.
3D ultrasound creates the appearance of a three-dimensional image of the baby. This allows the expecting parents to see their baby’s face, rather than just the outline of the face.
4D is the live version of a 3D ultrasound. With 4D ultrasound imaging, you could potentially see your baby smile or yawn in the womb because it compiles hundreds of images into a moving video.
